Meet Greg.
Hi, I'm Greg Colby - Funeral Celebrant, Story Teller, Deep Listener and the founder of your choice celebrancy
Over the past two decades, I’ve walked alongside people during some of life’s most tender and challenging moments. What I’ve learned is this: every life is different, and every goodbye should be too.
I created your choice celebrancy to give people the freedom, support, and space to say farewell in a way that feels right, honest, meaningful, and deeply personal.
Whether you’re planning ahead, navigating a recent loss, or simply not sure where to begin, I’m here to listen and help you find your way through it.
A Different Kind of Funeral Celebrant
We’ve all been to services that just don’t feel like the person they’re meant to honour. The words feel off. The tone misses the mark. And somehow, the real story gets lost.
I’m here to change that.
I work with families to create personalised farewells, gatherings that reflect the life, values, and spirit of the person we’re remembering. That could be a traditional service, a surf club send-off, a living wake, or a quiet moment in a garden surrounded by family and friends.
I won’t rush you and I won’t hand you a generic script.
I’ll listen. I’ll ask gentle, thoughtful questions. I’ll offer guidance that’s practical and grounded in care. I’ll stand beside you, whether you want something deeply traditional, quietly simple, or creatively unconventional.
Sometimes the most meaningful things are the smallest:
A fingerprint turned into jewellery.
A favourite song played just right.
A poem tucked into the service book.
Or simply knowing when to be silent.
It’s in those details that we find depth and healing.
“As we talked to Greg, we felt calmer… With his commitment and compassion for families in need of support, my family cannot speak highly enough of him.”
Margaret, whose husband Peter loved steam trains and lived a full life
My Path, My People, My Why.
I’ve spent over 20 years in pastoral ministry, much of that as an ordained Anglican priest. My work has always been about people celebrating new life, witnessing relationships and walking with families through both joy and heartbreak.
But it was through funerals and end-of-life care that I found the deepest kind of honesty. There’s nothing performative about grief, and nothing more powerful than honouring someone well.
That’s why I created Your Choice Funerals.
Because grief deserves time. Stories deserve space. And every person deserves to be remembered in a way that’s true to them.
When I’m not supporting families, I’m just Greg – husband, dad, mate. I live in NSW with the people I love most, and you’ll often find me:
- Riding my Harley Davidson Fatboy Lo
- At karate training (I’m a Tier 1 instructor with GKR Karate)
- Wearing one of my many hats (literally—I have a collection)
- Enjoying a strong cup of coffee
- Drinking Power Tea (I own another business distributing Power Tea to Fitness Centres, cafes &, sporting clubs)
I’ve even had a go at stand-up comedy. I am known to turn up to Open Mic’s at the Stag & Hunter in Mayfield and I even made it to the Comedy Court Grand Final in 2024. I reckon humour and honesty often go hand-in-hand, even in life’s most serious moments.
My Christian faith runs quietly through all I do. It’s not something I impose. It’s simply the foundation of my compassion, my care, and the deep respect I bring to every life I’m trusted to honour.

📸 The image you see below isn’t just symbolic.

Let’s Create a Farewell That Feels Right
Whether we’re remembering a parent, a partner, a child, or a friend, I’ll work with you to shape a farewell that feels honest, not forced. One that reflects who they truly were, in all their complexity and colour.
This isn’t about ticking boxes or following a script.
It’s about love.
It’s about storytelling.
And it’s about remembering well, together.
Because there’s no single way to say goodbye, only the way that feels right to you.
Your goodbye. Your way. your choice.
